The above steps are the simplest way to insert PDF into excel as an object. However, if you want to read or edit the PDF document before inserting it into the excel document, you should have a PDF editor program installed on your computer to read and edit the PDF files before or after adding PDF into excel.
PDF files are convenient to view and share but not so convenient if you want to deal with them on your Mac.
Although the Preview app allows you to do basic edits such as create signature and sign, fill forms, annotate, etc. But if those PDF files contain tables and numbers that you want to copy and use, Preview isn’t that useful.
One solution is: convert those PDFs files into Excel spreadsheets!
Every other big package works (apple updates, other apps, etc). Just unity (3.5.2). Usually i download from another mac, but the previous 3.5.1 update I had to download from work, put on to a flash drive, and bring home (had to do it 4 times for it to finally work). Now, no matter where i download it from, or what machine, I get invalid checksum on the mac. Invalid checksum mac sierra.
In this article, we are going to show you four different methods to convert a PDF into an Excel spreadsheet on Mac. Even if your PDF files are scanned versions that won’t allow direct copy and paste, you can still use some of the methods below to handle the files.
Let’s get started.
Method 1: Online PDF to Excel Converter
Best to use when: you only need to convert a few PDFs, and the files do not contain sensitive business data.
Website: https://www.pdftoexcelonline.com/
Limitations:
- Only convert PDFs with no more than 50 pages or 5MB in size.
- Do not support batch conversion.
- No OCR integration, can’t deal with scanned PDF files.
How to use: first specify the file types (in this case, it’s “PDF” to “Excel”), then click the “Select your file” button to upload the PDF you want to convert, enter your email address, and hit the “Convert” button. Wait for a few minutes before the file reaches your email inbox.
Method 2: Convert Scanned PDF to Excel with OnlineOCR
Best to use when: your PDF is a scanned image, and it does not contain any sensitive data.
Website: http://www.onlineocr.net/
Limitations:
- Max PDF file size 5MB.
- Do not support batch conversion.
How to use: upload your scanned PDF file, specify the language and output format, in this case, choose “Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)”. Click the “Convert” button to continue. Soon the converted Excel file will be available to download.
Method 3: Desktop Mac PDF to Excel Converter App
Our team uses PDFelement and recommends this app because it’s more than just a PDF converter, but an all-in-one PDF editing solution that allows you to edit pretty much any attribute of the file such as text, graphics, digital signatures, and many more.
This app is not free, but it offers a trial that you can evaluate its features.
Best to use when: you need to convert PDF files with many pages. Also, the content of your PDFs contains business confidential or private data.
How to use:
- Get the app and install it on your Mac.
- Launch the app and click the “Convert” option located on the top right corner.
- A new window will pop up. Now click the setting icon and change the output option to be Excel (by default, it’s Word).
- Next, drag your PDFs to the pane or click the Add Files button to upload your PDF files. Note: you can upload multiple items.
- Adjust relevant settings to each file you upload. If the file is a scanned PDF, click the “OCR” button to enable it.
- Hit “Convert” and you’re good to go.

Question: How do I insert a new sheet in Microsoft Excel 2011 for Mac?
Answer: When you create a new document in Excel 2011 for Mac, your spreadsheet will be created with only one worksheet called Sheet1. You can easily add more sheets as you need them.
You can view all of the sheet names as tabs along the bottom of the document. To add a new sheet, simply click on the plus tab to the right of the sheet names (we have circled this tab on the image below). When you click on this plus tab, it will insert a new sheet at the end of the list of sheets.
Now when you return to your spreadsheet, a new sheet should be inserted and you will be positioned on cell A1 within this new sheet. In this example, Sheet2 has been inserted into the spreadsheet. Excel will always name its sheets as Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3, and so on.
